| [22/12/2005] Really Impressed | | | I have been using B-free for 3 years and have recommended the software to small businesses and accountants. Of the accounting software currently available on the market, I believe B-free is easily the best in terms of efficient and comprehensive data entry - generally the most time consuming part of account keeping. The software is easy to use, quick and simple to set up, and does not require an understanding of accounting principles. These features make it ideal for most small enterprises. Where help is required, the technical support staff are approachable and knowledgeable.
When I was National Tax Director at CPA Australia I regularly heard from accountants that were frustrated by the fact that many clients were attempting to use software packages that were more complex than they could cope with, and that often exceeded the needs of the business. As a result, the accountant was often presented with something little better than an 'automated shoe-box'. B-free overcomes these problems because of its relative simplicity.
As a consultant advising on tax reform implementation in the Prime Minister's office in 2000, many small business operators complained that keeping accounts was a time consuming and costly exercise - with data entry the biggest bug-bear. The automated business recognition features of B-free tackle the heart of this problem.
Currently, I am the Chairman of the Independent Contractors of Australia and consider that B-free would suit the needs of the 1.2 million contractors in Australia. As a board member of the Regulation Taskforce appointed by the Prime Minister and Treasurer, I am well aware of the burden that regulation, including tax related regulation, is placing on businesses operating in Australia. Making the most of technological advances to minimise compliance costs is a major factor in lessening that load - I see B-free in that category.
Overall, I consider that B-free provides business owners with an efficient and effective tool to manage the basic accounts of their business. The data so gathered can be easily transferred to an accountant who is then able to spend more time advising on how to grow the business and less time on compliance work. | [04/10/2005] Less than 10 Minutes for 2 Years of Transactions… | | | | "My name is Rory Quigley and I own Quigley Bricklaying in Port Fairy, Victoria. I have an apprentice and various subcontractors working for me. Like many contractors, I was too exhausted and found it too hard to even look at doing my BAS. I'd much prefer to be out there making money, instead of sitting behind a computer for days on end. I have had my computer crash numerous times, causing me a real headache. Even though I back my accounting data up, I found it impossible to put the data back into the program. This was even with the help of a profession trainer. I struggled to find anyone to help me do my books and it was taking me about a day and a half each month just to do my BAS. In the end it was just too hard.
I started looking for a new program and stumbled across B-Free on the ATO's registered accounting programs. After seeing B-Free's website and looking at the demonstration, I decided to buy the program. I tried downloading my transactions and it only took me less than 10 minutes to get 2 years worth of transactions from my credit union. | [22/12/2005] Preparing BAS Returns Quicker | | | | Since I was introduced to B-free software, I have been able to prepare small business BAS returns quicker than using an excel spreadsheet or other accounting packages. It was also easier to train clients how to use B-free.
The speed, accuracy and simplicity of the B-free program means that I can provide a fast method of checking my client’s accounts and BAS returns. Because I have ready access to their information, I have no requirement to call them unless I can see that they haven’t downloaded their bank/credit card statements.
I have now found a more cost and time effective way to work with my micro to small business clients to prepare and complete their BAS.

A great feature of B-free is the ability to prepare and lodge my clients’ BAS, while I receive the benefits of the savings from using the software. B-free removes the need to sort through receipts as most of my client’s information is available electronically from their bank.
Because my clients accounting information is saved on a secure server, their data is safe. With B-free I can now reconcile my client’s income tax with their BAS by using the Accountants Journal. We have tested the B-free program and agree that B-free is simple to use. Any of my small business client’s can use the software and I can save time on data entry and use this time on their business. Even my most difficult clients can be better served by using B-free.
Now with the release of the Accountant Journal, it will take me no time at all to complete their income tax returns. It enables me to have all of my client’s information in front of me, any time I need it.

It takes no time at all to teach my clients how to use the program, which is great for those clients who have limited knowledge about computers.
I do not have to swap data files and I can view my client’s data at any time. If my client’s computer crashes, they don’t have to worry about losing any of their accounting data.
